National Survey Reveals Women Prioritize Mental Health as Top Concern

by Ella

LevLane Advertising, a distinguished full-service agency based in Philadelphia, has unveiled the outcomes of its 2023 Women’s Health Concerns Survey, encompassing 400 women aged 18 and above. This survey delves into the diverse aspects of women’s health and wellness and offers a revealing glimpse into their health priorities.

Conducted by a market research provider on behalf of LevLane, the survey paints a thought-provoking picture. Women, across all age groups, appear to be relegating sexual and reproductive health, alongside other facets of their well-being, while highlighting mental health as a top concern. Remarkably, this trend persists even among the younger demographic, where sexual health has historically taken precedence (ages 18-34).

Among all women aged 18 and above, only a mere 6% identified sexual health as their primary concern.

Mental health emerges as a preeminent worry for the majority, with 53% of women ranking it in their top three health concerns. Notably, 26% place it at the very top of their list. Stress management (45%), sleep health (33%), and heart health (32%) are among the other prominent concerns. Conversely, reproductive and sexual health (19%), diabetes (18%), pregnancy and post-partum issues (11%), and menopause and perimenopause (11%) hold the lowest overall rankings.

A distinct exception is witnessed in the 55+ age group, where women have prioritized heart health and stress management as joint top concerns.

Liz Weir, Chief Marketing Officer at LevLane, commented on the findings, saying, “Coming out of COVID, we expected to see a bump in mental health as a concern, but we were all taken aback by just how many women across all age groups cited it as their top concern. Even in younger age groups, where we would expect to see more of an emphasis on sexual and reproductive health or pregnancy and post-partum, we found that women are putting those things on the back burner to prioritize mental health.”
